The Van Nest lab is an Invertebrate Neuroethology Laboratory in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Manitoba. Our laboratory is interested in how brains select appropriate behavioral responses to varying conditions, how different brains produce different behaviors, and how brains change with age and experience. Using primarily honey bees and cockroaches, we employ immunohistochemistry, microscopy, electrophysiology, and a wide variety of behavioral assays.
